A day in Luxembourg

Today we hit the road for an adventure to Luxembourg. We had both wanted to see the sights and visit this beautiful city so we put it on our agenda. Even though it was a but cool and breezy we enjoyed our day.

We started our day with a visit to Notre-Dame Cathedral. A different church than the famous one in Paris but equally as lovely.

After the cathedral we wandered across to the World War I memorial. We didn't spend a lot of time there as it was quite breezy. Beautiful scenery though.

Then it was on to shopping and eating. Lots of streets to stroll through and Slice was thrilled to chase pigeons. There were way more in Luxembourg than there were in Cologne.

After a good sit down lunch we were off to find the ducal palace and the bock casemates. We retrieved the car and figured the drive would be better and faster to get to thus destination. Little did we know we had walked by it 100 times during our stroll. Park the car in a new place and start a new journey.

The casemates were quite something to see. I put on my big girl panties to put my claustrophobia and fear of caves to the side to enjoy this piece of history. Obviously it was dark and hard to take pictures but let me tell you there were some pretty treacherous stairs in there. People were also a lot smaller navigating these areas. The views from the look out points were stunning.

We ended our day with a stroll by the ducal palace. Who knew a palace would be just sitting amongst the rest of the building with no gardens or pomp and circumstance. Was nice to see and a few token pictures to take home.

After walking 8 km again today and being blown around in the blustery wind we headed for the car and made the journey back to our hotel. The dogs were such troopers today taking in most of the walking with us.

It was sure nice to hit the autobahn and cruise back at 180km.

Tomorrow we are if to the Netherlands!
